The top management structure of the Finance Department includes the Administrative Services Director and the Assistant Finance Officer. The Finance Department has a professional and dedicated staff who oversee the implementation of the annual budget, revenue forecasting, accounts payable and receivable, taxes and business license collection, purchasing and payroll. While the current focus is on Finance, the selected candidate may be assigned to oversee other City functions.

The individual selected will join a team of ten department heads who report directly to the City Manager. The Administrative Services Director is an integral part of the City’s leadership team by providing fiscal and administrative advice and direction in support of the City’s objectives. The Finance Department has distinguished itself by receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award and Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association.

The ideal candidate will be a team leader and team player with well developed technical and interpersonal skills who has a proven track record of: Being a fully experienced professional with a broad background in finance/accounting including revenue projection, financial planning, and expenditure control. Effective management and interpersonal skills that have led to positive team building, superior customer service and team performance attitude. Multi-task management assignments, handling several projects with different deadlines concurrently, and Strong oral and written communication skills.

Midway between the cities of Santa Cruz and Monterey, Watsonville is only 95 miles south of San Francisco and 45 miles from San Jose.
