The Fiscal Services Officer provides professional level financial support which may include planning, organizing, and supervising the daily operations of an assigned unit; monitoring financials of an assigned area; performing advanced journey level assignments in assigned area of responsibility; assisting in the development and monitoring of budget(s); and/or, performing other related activities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates, prepares, reviews and submits all payroll related work for the City.
Plans, organizes, and supervises daily accounting operations related, but not limited to, accounts payable, payroll, and/or financial reporting; ensures compliance with applicable Federal, State, City and unit laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; and performs advanced journey level assignments when required.
Supervises staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; coordinating staff training; and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
Assists with developing budgets by monitoring expenditures and making recommendations; and monitors financials of the assigned area of operation.
Prepares, reviews, revises, and/or approves a variety of reports, records, statements, and other documentation to ensure proper and effective financial reporting; work may involve researching and analyzing financial and statistical data.
Coordinates with other internal personnel/departments and external agencies, including auditors, vendors, and the general public, to facilitate department operations, and ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and five years of experience in area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Strong payroll experience highly preferred.
