THE POSITION The Budget and Management Studies Division (BMSD) of the City of Fresno is currently recruiting for a Senior Budget Analyst. BMSD assists in financial planning and strategic management processes across the city organization by delivering management information, decision support, consulting, auditing, and implementation services.
Under minimum supervision, the incumbent performs advanced and complex professional analytical, budgetary, and fiscal administration duties, and completes special projects on a City wide basis. In addition, the Senior Budget Analyst reviews existing and proposed legislation for impact on the city, consults with affected departments and makes recommendations. May provide lead direction to subordinate staff.
The successful candidate should possess a strong background in accounting and budget preparation and control; experience with conducting analytical and administrative studies, and possess the ability to coordinate budget preparation processes. Knowledge of municipal budget process is desired.
This is an unclassified position in which the incumbent serves at the will of the City Manager.
THE REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify.
To qualify for this rewarding opportunity an applicant must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or closely related field; AND two years of experience in professional budget development and administration.
Individuals considered for hire will be required to successfully pass a Department of Justice fingerprinting prior to employment with the City of Fresno. Those interested in applying must possess a valid California Driver's License at time of appointment, and must maintain the license throughout the term of assignment. Pay and Benefits: The beginning salary, within the salary range, is dependent upon experience. In addition to the monthly salary the City provides excellent benefits which include the following:
- Medical, Prescription, Dental and Vision coverage with two PPO options;
- Retirement through the City of Fresno Employees Retirement System which has a reciprocity agreement with Cal PERS; the City does not participate in Social Security;
- 20 Annual Leave days per year as well at 10 Holidays plus two floating holidays;
- Management Leave of 60 hours each fiscal year and Supplemental Sick Leave of 40 hours per fiscal year up to a maximum of 80 hours;
- Life insurance of one times annual salary and Long Term Disability insurance.
