The City of Monrovia is looking for a unique individual to serve as a Payroll Technician / Senior Payroll Technician in the Administrative Services Department. This individual should be someone who is inspired by the challenges and opportunities presented in working with an engaged and active community.
This position will be responsible for a variety of ongoing day to day tasks and projects, but not limited to:
• Maintaining and processing payroll records in a bi-weekly basis, verifying pay increases, correcting errors, and balancing payroll • Processing a wide variety of payroll information (e.g. direct deposits, W-4s, leave absences, salary, garnishments, investments, benefits, FLSA, CalPERS, and etc.) ensuring the documentation is in compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines • Staying abreast of changes in local, state, and federal laws and changes in union contract language as they pertain to payroll • Maintaining and enforcing all aspects of security and confidentiality of records and information • Preparing and submitting quarterly and annual payroll tax reports, and W-2 forms • Interacting with co-workers at all levels in the organization in a collaborative and customer service-oriented manner
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the qualifications would be:
High School graduation and three (3) years related experience. AA/AS and Bilingual skills desirable.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE Possession of a valid Class C Driver’s License and a good driving record.
