City of Gainesville currently has an opening for a qualified Budget Manager to join our Budget & Finance team. We are looking for a qualified, highly responsible Budget professional with extensive knowledge of the principles, laws, ordinances and regulations governing the municipal budget process.

SUMMARY

This is managerial and administrative work planning and directing the activities of the Budget Division in the Budget & Finance Department.

The single position allocated to this classification reports to a designated supervisor and works under general supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its managerial and professional budget responsibilities preparing, monitoring and adjusting the City's budget.

To qualify for this position you must have: a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related field, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental budgeting or a related field, including one (1) year of leading or supervising professional analysts;

or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

A Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance or related field may substitute for one (1) year of the non-supervisory work experience.

A Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida may substitute for one (1) year of the non-supervisory work experience. Experience with CGI Advantage software is preferred, though not required.
