The City seeks an experienced, ethical, and steadfastly strategic finance professional to be its new Public Works Finance Officer. Under general supervision, this position assists the Director of Public Works in planning and directing City of Waco Public Works Department financial operations, managing compliance with City and department policies and procedures, and developing complex financial reports, analyses, budgets, and rate proposals. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in financial management and budget administration, with specialized knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles governing public sector financial management.
The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration and have five years of experience in government accounting and budgeting. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills will be considered. A valid Texas driver’s license is required; a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy is desirable. Additional technical certifications and training may be required.
