Job Description: 

Under administrative direction, plans, organizes, directs, manages and reviews the administrative activities and operations of the Town Finance Division as it relates to accounting, finance, information technology, safety and risk management functions. Oversees delivery of these support services to other Town departments including management of the Town's budget, fiscal audits and related activities. Coordinates assigned activities with other Town departments and outside agencies, provides highly responsible and complex assistance and administrative support to their direct supervisor, and performs related work, as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives administrative direction from the Assistant Town Manager/Administrative Services Director. Exercises general direction and supervision over management, supervisory, professional, technical, and administrative support staff through subordinate levels of management and supervision.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This is a management classification in the Administrative Services Department. The incumbent oversees, directs, and participates in assigned activities of the Finance Division including finance, accounting, information technology, safety and risk management functions. Activities in this role include operational planning, development, and administration of policies, procedures and services. This class provides direct support to the Assistant Town Manager / Administrative Services Director and regularly interacts with other departments and Town Executive Management. Successful performance of the work requires extensive knowledge of accounting, public policy, general management best practices, personnel development, team building, policy creation and the ability to develop, oversee and implement projects and programs. The incumbent is accountable for accomplishing departmental planning, operational goals and objectives and for furthering Town goals and objectives within general policy guidelines. This position serves as acting Administrative Services Director in the Assistant Town Manager/Administrative Services Director's absence. This class is distinguished from the Assistant Town Manager/Administrative Services Director in that the latter has overall management responsibility of the Administrative Services Department for planning, programs, functions, activities and for developing, implementing and interpreting public policy, strategies and goals.
