The position is responsible for overseeing the County’s bank reconciliations, cash receipts, and accounts receivable. This position assists in the monthly general ledger reconciliation and monthly and year-end closing. Additional duties include assisting in the preparation of the County’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, generating audit schedules for the annual fiscal audit, and supervising 4 accountants/accountant seniors.
Incumbent will be knowledgeable in advanced accounting theory, principles and practices and their application to various accounting transactions and/or problems; practice in governmental/fund accounting (GAAP, GASB, FASB) and relevant accounting and budgeting standards. In addition, the incumbent will have the ability to accurately analyze, evaluate, summarize and compile budget, accounting and financial data; develop accounting and related data in preparation of reports and statements. The incumbent will comprehend accounting language and documents; operate effectively under stringent deadlines; exercise insight and independent judgment; maintain confidentiality; deal tactfully with controversial matters, and to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
The incumbent must have the following minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration plus five (5) years of professional work experience in accounting, finance, budgeting, or business administration; two (2) year experience must have been in a supervisory capacity. Related education and experience may be substituted at a rate of thirty (30) semester hours equal to one (1) year experience.
