Cheryl Walker is the Human Resources Manager for Health and Benefits for the City of Asheville, North Carolina. She directs and manages the employee benefit programs and Onsite Health Clinic for 1,200 employees and retirees and 2,500 dependents. Her responsibilities include managing the city’s benefit programs, the Asheville Project® disease management program, the city’s onsite medical clinic, and the Asheville Balanced Choices Wellness Program. 

Cheryl has 21 years of experience in employee benefits as a consultant and underwriter working with large employers. She assists employers with designing employee benefit packages, strategic renewal strategies, action planning, and development of innovative and practical wellness programs. She provides financial underwriting for self-insured medical benefit programs, analyzing historical claims data, projecting trends, and negotiating renewal with insurance carriers.
