Stephen A. Solomon has served more than 28 years as a government finance officer. He currently serves as the Director of Finance for Prince William County, Virginia.  In this role he oversees approximately 145 staff in the areas of Real Estate Assessment, Tax Administration, Treasury Management, Financial Reporting and Control, Purchasing, Risk Management and Debt.

Mr. Solomon currently serves as the Chair of the GFOA’s Committee on Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting (CAAFR).  He also serves as an editor for the upcoming edition of GFOA’s, Governmental Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting (the Blue Book). In addition he serves on the GASB Task Force on Deferred Inflows and Outflows. Finally, Mr. Solomon serves on the George Mason University Accounting Advisory Council, where he advises staff on the direction of government finance and the training needs of students in addition to counseling students on the value of a career in government finance. Mr. Solomon has also served as the President of the Virginia Government Finance Officers’ Association.

He pursued his Master of Public Policy degree from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a double major in Accountancy and Economics from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
