Michael A. Genito is the Commissioner of Finance and Budget Director for the City of White Plains, New York, where he has served since January 2010. Michael began his career in government in 1984 serving as Treasurer of the Village of Suffern. In 1991 he was appointed Director of Finance for the Town of Ramapo, and from April 1996 through December 2008 he served as the Assistant City Manager/Comptroller for the City of Rye. In January 2009 he left government service for a year to become the Director of Pace University’s Michaelian Institute for Public Policy and Management.

Michael holds an MPA in Government from Pace University; an MBA in Accounting and Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a BFA in Music from Ramapo College in New Jersey. He is a Certified Public Finance Officer, a Certified Government Financial Manager and a Credentialed Municipal Finance Officer. He remains active in professional associations, having served as a member of the national GFOA Executive Board from 2006-2008 and as President of the New York State GFOA from 1995-1996.

In addition to his government service, Mr. Genito is an Adjunct Professor in Pace University’s MPA Program, where he has served since 2002 teaching courses in governmental accounting, budgeting and public administration.
