Click here for brochure Each year since 1986, GFOA has conducted the Advanced Government Finance Institute, an intensive week-long program that provides GFOA members from across the United States and Canada an opportunity to enhance their leadership skills and focus on emerging trends within the public finance community. The five-day program, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Business, gathers top academic instructors along with government officials and private-sector specialists to provide 50 qualified attendees with a unique opportunity to address big picture issues facing public finance today, including: - strategic planning
- global and national economic trends
- relationships with the media
- technology trends
- organizational leadership
Additionally, attendees may participate in a special “Issues in Accounting” seminar led by Stephen Gauthier. The Institute also offers personal and team-building leadership training. The week-long program affords participants many networking opportunities with their peers, an element that enhances the program experience, both professionally and personally. APPLICATION INFORMATION Only 50 qualified candidates are selected based on their professional experience. GFOA membership is required.
LOCATION AND COST Program and lodging are on the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s campus. A program fee of $1,940 includes tuition, housing, meals, classroom materials, and sponsored activities. FOR MORE INFORMATION Please contact Susan Gaffney.
