2009 Annual Conference Call for Topics

103rd Annual Conference

June 28 – July 1, 2009

Seattle, Washington

Share your insights, experiences, and expertise with your colleagues

The Government Finance Officers Association’s 2009 annual conference, one of the profession’s longest running conferences, brings together more than 4,000 public sector finance practitioners throughout the United States and Canada who meet in an educational format to discuss financial management strategies, improve skills and address the tough challenges they face today.

We are currently seeking proposals for conference technical sessions that focus on critical new issues and innovative solutions to meet the professional needs of public finance officers.  This is an opportunity to present your innovative solutions, experiences, and research to more than 4,000 public finance practitioners and contribute to the advancement of government finance.  All GFOA members and nonmembers are invited to submit topics.  Proposals are being accepted through September 30, 2008.

The annual conference features approximately 60 concurrent sessions and discussion groups in seven educational tracks related to public finance and management.  Concurrent sessions are lecture-style settings featuring one to three speakers.  Discussion groups are group forums facilitated by a discussion leader.

Proposals are being accepted for the following areas:

•    Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting

•    Budgeting and Financial Planning

•    Cash Management and Investing

•    Debt Management

•    Economic Development & Capital Planning

•    Management and Policy

•    Pension and Benefits

•    Technology and Digital Government

Topics should be educational, non-commercial, and provide value to a wide-ranging group of attendees.  Sales pitches for products and/or services submitted as proposals will not be considered.

Presenters are considered delegates and are responsible for paying their own travel expenses and the conference registration fee.  If you can only attend the conference for the day of your presentation, you may qualify for a complimentary one-day registration.

Scheduling of sessions will be determined by December 15, 2008.  GFOA will notify you via e-mail if your proposal was selected.

We look forward to seeing you in Seattle!
