Chicago, Illinois – February 14, 2019) For over a century, government finance professionals in the United States and Canada have relied upon the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) to provide timely information, practical educational opportunities, and the latest information on best practices. GFOA is proud to announce a milestone in its history—achieving 20,000 members.

Carol Orth, Assistant Controller, Alameda County – Auditor's Agency, Oakland, California, became the Association’s 20,000th member. Orth has been active in GFOA as a nonmember, participating in the Association’s annual Governmental GAAP Update web- stream event every year since 2003 and attending GFOA’s 2013 Annual Conference in San Francisco, California, as well as taking part in GFOA’s 2016 accounting training seminars in Oakland, California. She became a member by joining through her county’s base membership.

Orth will be recognized at GFOA’s 113th Annual Conference, May 19–22, 2019, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, California. She was awarded with complimentary registration and travel expenses to attend the event. The conference is expected to bring together over 4,000 government finance officers through more than 75 sessions, ten preconference seminars, three keynote speakers, discussion groups and networking opportunities including a welcome breakfast and closing event, and an exhibit hall. Details and registration are available at gfoa.org/conference.
