Patrick J. McCoy, Director of Finance, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, New York, New York, was elected as president-elect of the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) on May 24, 2016. The election was held at the association’s annual business meeting in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
McCoy has been a GFOA member for 12 years. He currently serves on GFOA’s Committee on Governmental Debt Management and is also a past committee member. McCoy served as a GFOA training instructor on topics of debt issuance and derivatives in 2010 and 2011. His government has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in
Financial Reporting from 1995 through 2014.
He will serve on GFOA’s Executive Board for one year as president-elect. In May 2017, he will become the association’s president at its Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado. GFOA Executive Director Jeffrey L. Esser said McCoy was elected by his peers because of his outstanding leadership ability and stature as a public finance professional.
