Sean M. Robinson has over 21 years of human resources/ labor relations experience and became the Executive Director of the National PELRA in April 2017. As the Executive Director, he is responsible to the Board of Directors for the operations of the Association and direct oversight of all National PELRA services. Sean reports to the Board of Directors, under the general leadership of the National PELRA President. Sean is accountable to the Board for implementing the Association's priorities, policies, goals and objectives as established by the Board.
Prior to become the Executive Director, Sean was the Human Resources Manager for the City of Rancho Palos Verdes in California managing the City’s labor relations, recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, investigation/discipline, employee relations, training and employee development, retirement administration, benefit administration, workers’ compensation, and the performance management system.
Prior to coming to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, Sean worked for the San Diego Superior Court for 14 years in the area of human resources. Sean managed the labor relations for the Court, including labor negotiations, grievance resolutions, and arbitrations and went in front of PERB to present and testify in a case related to disparate treatment of employees.
Sean was the National PELRA President (2015-2016) and has been on the Board of Director’s for the National PELRA since 2009. Sean is also one of the founders of Public Employer Labor Relations Association of California (PELRAC), California’s Affiliate to the National. Sean has also been adjunct professor teaching labor relations/negotiations to PhD classes in organizational development.
When not working, Sean enjoys time spent with his wife, Tonda and his family.
