The Marin County Human Resources Department and the Marin County Administrator’s Office are announcing recruitments for the positions of Budget (Administrative) Analyst I / II. This vacancy will be filled at the Budget Analyst I OR II level. To be considered for both the Budget Analyst I and II levels, you must submit separate applications for each level.

Reporting to the Assistant County Administrator or Budget Manager, Budget (Administrative) Analysts perform complex budget, management and policy analysis and participate in special project assignments and ad hoc project teams with presentations to the Board of Supervisors, department heads or other decision makers. The position assists in the managing, planning, and administration of budgetary and fiscal reporting, financial systems and administrative support functions of the County’s administrative services departments and requires an ability to act independently; utilize sound judgment; and support countywide strategic priorities.


The Highly Qualified Candidate: The ideal candidate has knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration either through relevant advanced coursework or prior experience working in local government which has included performing budget or financial analysis work. The successful candidate can work with financial data systems to conduct complex and sensitive analyses requiring a high level of detail, has experience making presentations and leading discussions with internal and external stakeholders and shows an ability to maintain collaborative and constructive working relationships with office staff, department staff and members of the public. Finally, the successful candidate demonstrates initiative, exercises sound judgment, adapts well to changing circumstances, and will be an enthusiastic contributor looking to grow, excel and advance the County’s future.
