The Maine Municipal Association is currently accepting resumes for the position of Chief Financial Officer. This is a senior management position responsible for overseeing the financial operations, stability and well-being of MMA and all of its self-funded programs including the Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust, Workers Compensation and Property Casualty Risk pools. This position oversees the operations of the Finance Department, supervising a staff of six. It also focuses on both operational management and strategic planning for MMA and all of its programs. A key role of this position is overseeing the in-house management of investments for MMA and the group insurance programs.
The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of the principals and practices of accounting, budgeting, cash management and financing for non-for-profit and insurance/self-insurance entities. Strong communication skills along with the ability to troubleshoot complex problems and implement solutions. Knowledge of automated financial management systems required. Understanding of actuarial principals and funding models for insurance and benefit self-insurance pools is desirable. A Master’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration, supplemented by management level experience highly desirable.
