The City of Santa Rosa is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accountant. Accountant is a journey level professional assigned to perform a full range of professional accounting and audit work for the City and Housing Authority. The primary responsibility for this position will be to support the City's disaster recovery effort. The position will work with project managers in City departments, will preparing documentation and reporting for projects receiving Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) funding, and help close out these projects pursuant to grant guidelines. In general, Accountants work independently, under general supervision, and are expected to have a thorough knowledge of professional accounting principles, practices, and procedures, and to exercise independent judgment within established accounting systems.
Ideal Candidate This position will report to the Deputy Director – Finance. In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate for this vacancy will have Federal and State grant accounting and reporting experience; strong analytical and organizational skills; be deadline driven; have the ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of City departments; manage projects; and, will be proactive and self-motivated individual who can work in a fast-paced environment while consistently delivering high-quality work. A candidate with a CPA License is desirable.
