Chandler Asset Management, Inc. is a San Diego based institutional fixed income investment adviser with $18 billion in assets under management. We are seeking a Relationship Manager to join the team and build our institutional fixed income client base focused on public agencies, non-profit organizations, and healthcare entities in Northern California.
A Relationship Manager at Chandler Asset Management is actively involved in developing prospective clients and retaining existing clients, representing Chandler Asset Management at various events, and ensuring the success of each relationship. While the position requires strong initiative and self-direction, results are achieved through working in conjunction with colleagues across the organization. The position of Relationship Manager is a critical part of the success of Chandler Asset Management and will require the team member to focus on growing new business, and the retention and growth of current client relationships to meet AUM targets as assigned.
Responsibilities • Identify and build new client accounts to meet annual AUM targets in assigned region(s) • Develop and manage relationships with the key decision makers including current clients, prospects and centers of influence • Build key relationships by presenting value propositions that address client needs while achieving sales objectives • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients to assist in both retention and growth of client assets • Prepare and participate in presentations to manage and develop key accounts • Understand, through industry research and data mining, any competitive advantages and develop strategies to address potential gaps • Analyze market trends in order to position targeted client offerings • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm to present Chandler’s qualifications in written and oral presentations and RFPs • Proactively assess, clarify and validate the client’s needs on an ongoing basis • Ensure timely reporting of all sales and client service activity into Chandlers CRM system
Requirements: • Ideal candidates will have proven success in sales, prospecting and building a book of fixed income business. Sales to public agencies is preferred. • Minimum four-year college degree with five plus years industry experience. • Series 65 licenses or obtain series 65 license within 90 days of hire date. • Prioritization and ability to meet tight deadlines required • Ability to travel overnight at least 30% • Requires at least 50% time working outside of office • Outstanding presentation and speaking skills • Proven experience in public speaking is a plus • Ability to work well in groups and across departments • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to present recommendations and plans to senior management and key client representatives with poise and professional effectiveness • Create, articulate and execute a strategy for maximizing sales and client retention
