The City of Fargo, ND is excited to announce we are seeking an Assistant Finance Director.

Under the general direction of the Director of Finance, the Assistant Finance Director serves as a leader in support of the oversight, development, and control of fiscal operations for the City; provides fiscal oversight and general business assistance to Director of Finance, Department and Division Heads of the City in achieving goals and objectives for the Finance Department and the City Commission. This position is a key support person to the Director of Finance that oversees our operational teams and internal and external financial reporting functions, payroll processing and the issuance of municipal debt.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in public or business administration with an accounting, finance or a related field as a specialization and nine or more years of progressively responsible governmental accounting experience, including five or more years of supervisory responsibility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Master’s degree or recognized professional certification such as CPA or CPFO is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary starting at $116,064; along with an excellent benefit package to include a defined benefit pension plan.
