Utility Billing Accounts Representative
The City of St. Charles is currently seeking a service-oriented Utility Billing Accounts Representative to join our Finance team. We offer a supportive work environment that encourages learning and professional development.
Job Description:
Responsible for providing excellent customer service for comprehensive and professional utility bill processing and cashiering services. Responsibilities also include:
- Provide excellent customer service and positively promote the services and programs offered by the City.
- Review, monitor, and process monthly electric, water, sewer, and refuse utility account billings.
- Assist customers with accessing and navigating the on-line utility billing portal.
- Respond to daily utility service change requests from new residents, businesses, and other customers requesting termination, establishment, or transfer of utility service accounts.
- Identify and facilitate collection of delinquent utility accounts per policy and procedure.
- Perform cashiering duties of collecting and receiving payments, deposits, and cash transactions.
- Process returned checks, send disconnect notices, warning letters, or deposit requests as needed.
- Provide back up to Utility Billing Administrative Assistant when needed.
- Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent, with an Associate’s degree in business or related field desirable.
- Minimum of two years of customer service required.
- Billing and cashiering experience a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to provide superior customer service.
- Intermediate skills with Word, Excel, and Outlook (Billing software skills a plus).
- Bilingual with Spanish would be a plus.
- If selected, successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen are required.
Salary and Benefits:
The pay range is $30.27 - $42.37 with starting pay commensurate with experience.
