Program Description:

The two-day seminar will provide participants with the opportunity to acquire hands-on, practical implementation of GFOA’s best practices in budgeting and to improve the effectiveness of a local government's budget document. The program is structured around the GFOA’s best practices in budgeting taken from its Budget Committee and the criteria used to judge the quality of budget documents submitted to the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program. Numerous examples are drawn from the GFOA's book-length publication Building a Better Budget Document, which is furnished on site to all participants as part of their course materials.

Seminar Objectives:

Provide the practical information needed to improve the quality of a government's budget document.
