The primary function of this position is to ensure excellence in all accounting and budget operations. This position is responsible for the timely output of the Citys Annual Budget, Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), accounts receivable, fixed assets and payroll functions. To be considered for this position, applicant must have a Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting. Masters degree and Certified Public Accountant is preferred. This position requires a minimum of five or more years of work experience which clearly demonstrates the ability to carry out responsibilities related to fund accounting. Prior experience in a related field of governmental accounting is essential. Must have extensive supervisory experience. Applicants should have the ability to be bonded. Required knowledge for this position includes, knowledge of personal computers, including various software packages such as Word, Excel, Access, graphic applications, investment applicants and budgeting software. Applicants should have knowledge of government accounting procedures; budget preparation and management procedures and relevant federal and state laws, city ordinances and department policies/procedures. Applicants should possess skills in utilizing financial computer software programs and skilled in oral and written communication.
