Job Description: 

Under the general direction of the Senior Accounting Manager, performs administrative work and is responsible for supervising Cape Coral’s cash and investments program and debt administration. Position is responsible for working collaboratively with outside consultants and departments to ensure that transactions are properly accounted for in accordance with governmental accounting practices and policies and in interpreting procedures, recording and reporting transactions, and preparing related financial records and reports. This classification is expected to use tact and discretion in obtaining compliance with the IRS regulations surrounding debt issues and City’s requirements and policies, and must use initiative and judgment in anticipating and solving problems. Work is subject to automatic and periodic verification through system of internal controls, pre-audits and post-audits, and to supervisory review for conformity with established policies and procedures. Performs related professional work as required. Individual(s) assigned to this classification must report to work per their assigned schedule. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Public Administration, (with significant concentration in accounting classes if Finance, Business Administration, or Public Administration degree) from an accredited college required, plus 5 years debt/treasury experience. A Master’s Degree may substitute for one year of required experience. Must have two years experience as a supervisor. Local governmental financial accounting and reporting experience preferred.
