Ms. Shelton began service with the County of San Diego at the San Diego Superior Court in 1997. During her service to the County of nearly to two decades, she has been continuously promoted holding various human resource and financial positions across several County business groups and departments.
Ms. Shelton is currently the Director of the County of San Diego’s Office of Financial Planning where her responsibilities include planning and directing the County’s strategic financial planning policies, long-term financial forecasting, and facilitating the decision making process for the $5 billion annual budget. In this role, she also serves as the principal budget and fiscal advisor to the Finance and General Government Group’s Deputy Chief Administrative Officer/Auditor and Controller and is responsible for administering the Community Enhancement and Neighborhood Reinvestment grant programs on behalf of the Board of Supervisors.
Immediately prior to joining the Office of Financial Planning, she was the Group Finance Director for the Finance and General Government Group. In this capacity, she was responsible for planning, directing, and organizing overall budgetary activities of the group as well as providing general management oversight of the County’s debt portfolio. Ms. Shelton has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Master in Public Administration with an emphasis in Public Sector Management and Leadership.
