Located 35 miles southwest of Oklahoma City and 36 miles west of Norman, Chickasha’s location gives residents access to the amenities of a major metropolitan area including professional and major college sports, a major commercial airport, theater and other cultural activities, with the quiet rural atmosphere of a small town. Chickasha is located in the middle of the South Central Oklahoma Oil Province (SCOOP). SCOOP encompasses 3,300 square miles of south-central Oklahoma; most of which is within four counties- Stephens, Grady, Garvin and Carter. The area, the potential of which some have compared to the Bakken area of North Dakota, has experienced the recent ups and downs of oil prices. In addition, Chickasha is experiencing several new retail developments, two planned hotels and a 200 home subdivision.

The City is seeking an experienced public finance professional with knowledge of and experience in the overall financial management of municipal government operations to be the next Director of Finance. Under the direction of the City Manager, the Director of Finance will be responsible for directing the operations of the Finance Department, with 5 FTE’s and a 2017-2018 annual operating budget of $500,000.00. In addition, the Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing the overall financial management of the City including accounting, debt management, investments and purchasing as well as providing support for the budget function for the City. The successful candidate will possess professional knowledge of a discipline equivalent to that which is acquired by graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. Completion of a Master’s degree-level of study in Management of Public Administration will be a plus. Applicants must have a minimum of six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting, finance and supervision. Substantial knowledge of modern governmental accounting theory, principles and practices, knowledge of pronouncements and requirements of GAAP and GASB. Experience with automated financial software systems, InCode preferred.
