Alberta’s Auditor General is a nonpartisan officer of the Legislature appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Legislative Assembly.
As Auditor General you are the auditor of all government ministries, departments, funds and provincial agencies, including universities, public colleges, technical institutes and Alberta Health Services. You will also make recommendations to government and public agencies on opportunities and solutions for improved performance reporting and the use of public funds.
Candidates will have extensive executive audit management experience, in-depth knowledge of accounting, audit and financial reporting standards and proven success in leading teams and managing complex financial and administrative systems. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required, including the requisite professional accounting accreditation to prepare reports under the Auditor General Act. With a focus on strategic leadership, your experience managing professional services human resources, exceptional communication and relationship building skills as well as working knowledge of the theory and practice of accountability in large organizations will be key in this role.
