Job Description: 

This is an upper level management position responsible for directing and managing fiscal and accounting activities of a major City department. The incumbent may be responsible for developing and recommending new and revised statutes, rules, policies, and procedures to respond to changes in operational/program needs, objectives, and priorities and to improve the effectiveness of managed operations/programs. Responsibilities may also include: grants management; budget preparation and control; contract awarding; overseeing/directing Custodian of Records duties; overseeing/directing duties of subordinates, and departmental payroll. Position requires strong supervisory skills and the ability to work well with other City departments and outside federal, state, and local funding sources. Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field and, five years of progressively responsible financial management experience including at least two years in a supervisory capacity. Or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be proficient in Excel, Word, and accounting system software. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
