Class Summary: The Utility Billing position is in the Fiscal Services Support Classification Series of our pay structure which is devoted to providing basic accounting support for the City. Depending on assignment, typical duties may include: receiving and processing utility bills; posting invoices; processing payments; performing calculations; performing data entry; and/or, performing other related activities.

Typical Class Essential Duties: Receives and processes utility and other bills; work may involve downloading, assessing, uploading, and/or posting meter readings; maintaining and updating accounts; entering services orders; and/or performing related duties.

Receives, scans, reviews, posts, and/or reconciles invoices, checks, and other financial information; and processes payments, refunds, and fund transfers.

Prepares, maintains, uploads, and/or updates a variety of reports, records, statements, and documents, to ensure timely and accurate documentation.

Enters or retrieves information into/from, and maintains applicable filing and online systems, applications, and other databases.

Provides customer assistance in the assigned area of responsibility, by providing standard information in person or via phone and/or email; and may coordinate with vendors and other external/internal agencies to facilitate department operations.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Functional Specific Responsibilities: • Processes utility bills; downloads, assesses, uploads, and/or posts meter readings; maintains and updates accounts; and enters, updates, and/or dispatches services orders. • Provides information related to utility bills and payments.

Training and Experience: Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
