The Chief Administrative Office is currently recruiting for an experienced Risk professional to serve as the Risk Manager for the City of New Orleans. The Risk Manager is responsible for developing and administering a comprehensive risk management program for the City including employee safety, loss control, managing liability exposures, and coordinating insurance coverage. The Risk Manager assures that the City has adequate and cost effective insurances in place to protect City assets and provides fiscal management for each of these programs including property, casualty, liability and worker's compensation. Conducts general and specific employee safety training.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Extensive knowledge of modern management practices and procedures; federal and state laws and guidelines relating to job duties (e.g. COBRA, Workers’ Compensation). Ability to write and speak clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings; establish and maintain effective working relationships with city officials, employees, health and hospital professionals, and the general public. Skilled in making presentations in a variety of settings. Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or related field. At least five (5) years of administrative and managerial experience in risk management. Municipal/Governmental experience. Experience with public safety, property claims and workers’ compensation. Possession of a professional designation such as Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Senior Claim Law Associate (SCLA), or equivalent is preferred.
