Kent R. Austin, CPFO
Kent Austin served for 17 years as finance director for the cities of University Park and Prosper, Texas. His responsibilities included accounting, budgeting, fleet, investment management, municipal court, and utility billing. He began his local government career with University Park in 1987.
Austin served as President of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas in 2012-2013 and as a member of GFOA’s Treasury and Investment Management Committee from 2007-2012.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business finance from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, an MPA from the University of Kansas, and an MBA from the University of Dallas. He earned GFOA’s Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) designation in 2001 and is a 2011 graduate of the Advanced Government Finance Institute. He currently serves as an independent local government finance consultant.
