Bio: 

Laurie Van Pelt is the Director of Management and Budget for Oakland County, a position appointed by the County Executive. As such, she serves as the Chief Fiscal Officer of the County and directs the functions of accounting, budgeting, payroll, purchasing, equalization, and reimbursement. She also serves on the County’s Retirement and Deferred Compensation Board.

She is a Certified Public Finance Officer, conferred by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

She has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a master’s degree in Finance. She is the recipient of the 2010 Crain’s CFO of the Year Award in the Government Sector category.

Through her affiliations with various national and state associations, Mrs. Van Pelt works with her peers on common challenging financial issues facing government today and has authored articles for GFOA’s bimonthly magazine, Government Finance Review. Over this past year, she has served on GFOA's Resiliency Task Force.
