Winter Meeting of the Women’s Public Finance Network

Ms. Shirley Hughes, co-chair of the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Women’s Public Finance Network, welcomed all members and called the meeting to order at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January, 10, 2012.  Ms. Hughes recognized Ms. Linda Davidson and Mr. Chris Morrill (President and President-elect of the GFOA) who thanked the women’s network members for their active participation in the GFOA and for attending the winter meeting.  They also encouraged members to apply for positions on the GFOA standing committees and the Executive Board.  Ms. Hughes also acknowledged GFOA Executive Director Mr. Jeff Esser and staff liaison Ms. Barrie Tabin Berger.  

Ms. Kate Buch, co-chair of the Women’s Public Finance Network, called for a motion to approve the minutes from the meeting held in San Antonio, Texas on May 22, 2011.  A motion to approve the minutes was made, and the minutes were adopted.   

Ms. Buch then introduced several leaders of the GFOA’s six standing committees who shared with network members information about the activities of each of their committees, as well as why they became involved with a GFOA standing committee and what the experience has meant to them.  The presenters included: Linda Crammer, chair of the Committee on Governmental Budgeting and Fiscal Policy; Christa McLellan, representing the Committee on Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting; Maryann Motza, chair of the Committee on Retirement and Benefits Administration; Julia Cooper, representing the Committee on Governmental Debt Management; Tammy Clayton, representing the Committee on Economic Development and Capital Planning; and Terry Stone, chair of the Committee on Treasury and Investment Management.       
 
At the conclusion of the roundtable discussion, Shirley Hughes adjourned the meeting at 9:00 a.m.
