Many people assume that being more transparent will generate more trust among key stakeholders. However, is that true? Our experience from outside of public finance often shows that a lack of trust is rarely ever solved by increased transparency. In fact, many times, this can lead to greater distrust and scrutiny.
Building trust is a core value for all finance professionals; however, building trust takes more than transparency. In this session, speakers will discuss the importance of collaboration, communication, alignment of core values, accountability, and ethics in building and maintaining trust. In addition, speakers will present strategies to combat common organizational barriers to building trust including cultural silos, change resistance, politics, unnecessary personnel drama, and more.
