From Harvey Milk to Barbara Jordan, members of the LGBTQIA+ community have a strong tradition of public service—and not just in elected offices. In this session, attendees will hear from LGBTQIA+ people working in different levels of local government—from elected officials to managers to frontline staff—on how they support their communities and how their identities shape their perspectives on service.
Speakers will also explore the unique challenges and opportunities facing queer professionals in government and highlight ways organizations can create environments where LGBTQIA+ employees can thrive at every level.
