This role is a member of a team of highly skilled professional accountants in the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting program at GFOA, a professional association whose mission is to promote excellence in state and local government financial management. The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is an esteemed award recognizing local governments who go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure that is essential to establish trust in local government. This position performs technical reviews of financial reports submitted by state and local governments, applying GASB and GAAP standards with high level of proficiency.
GFOA seeks both entry level accountants and those with experience in government accounting. GFOA will provide the unique and technical training needed for the position. Candidates should have a keen interest in developing specialized expertise in accounting and financial reporting for state and local governments.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
We seek a range of experience levels from entry level accountant to some level of expertise in local government accounting.
