GFOA provides several academic scholarship opportunities for students interested in pursuing a career in state/provincial or local government finance. In 2024, we awarded $105,000 in scholarships.

GFOA provides a number of scholarship opportunities for various programs within the organization. These scholarships help members grow while alleviating the financial burden.
CPFO Enrollment Scholarships
GFOA partners with state associations to award their members two annual Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) enrollment scholarships. The GFOA Black Caucus and WPFN award up to ten per year.
Leadership Development Scholarship
The GFOA Leadership Development Scholarship (GLDS) program is available to assist working professionals with funding to advance their careers in public finance. Current members of GFOA (excluding student, associate, and international members) are eligible to apply for a scholarship that they can apply to their costs for GFOA's Leadership Academy.
