Job Description

The City of Creedmoor is approximately 20 miles north of Raleigh and northeast of Durham with approximately 4,600 residents. Creedmoor is expanding to new heights with our newly constructed community center. Also, Creedmoor currently has several capital projects underway, 3+ miles of sidewalks/greenways and parks.

We are looking to hire a motivated and experienced Accounting Technician and/or Finance Professional, who is detailed-oriented, flexible, forward-thinking and willing to grow with Creedmoor. The Accounting Technician is responsible for supporting all payroll efforts, accounts payable and receivable, as well as the purchase order processing. This position is also responsible for performing advanced analytical reporting, supports financial reporting/audits, and serves as back-up for phone and front desk area.

To excel in this role, you will need to have proven experience in completing an array of accounting/payroll tasks in a state or local government entity and be willing to assist us as we streamline financial and administrative processes/procedures. All applicants must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (especially advanced proficiency Excel) and relevant computer systems such as Paychex, Logic, etc. Additional skills would assist with organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines and following up on assignments with minimal direction. Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Management, Public Administration or directly related field, and/or a minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience as an Accounting or Payroll Technician/Specialist is preferred. Certified Local Government Purchasing Officer certification is preferred, but not required.

The hiring range for this position is from $35,026-$41,697, which is based on education and experience. However, the current salary maximum is $50,037.
