Budget Award Advisory Committee

The Budget Award Advisory Committee met multiple times with GFOA staff over the past year to discuss changes to the awards program and develop new program criteria. Going forward, the committee will provide an oversight role for the program to approve any future modifications to award criteria, ensure overall integrity of the program and overall alignment of best practices in budgeting, and provide source of appeals for program participants.

The committee will be made up of (12) individuals appointed by the GFOA Executive Director. Committee members will serve staggered three year terms beginning each year with the GFOA annual conference. Specific positions on the committee include:

  • At-Large Members (6) – Current members with budgeting expertise
  • Existing Budget Committee Members (3) – Current members who will serve as liaison to GFOA’s Budget Standing Committee.
  • Stakeholder Representatives (3) – Non-budgeting experts representing communications, executive leadership, elected officials, or other similar roles who would serve as primary audience for budget communications.

One member, appointed by the GFOA Executive Director, will serve as Chair of the BAAC.
