April M. Jordan
Controller, City of Shreveport, Louisiana

April is a proven leader that challenges leaders to train and learn based on where they are and prepare for where they are going. During her eleven years with the City of Shreveport, she has worked her way from a Staff Auditor in the Internal Audit Division of the City Council to Controller, working in the Finance Department. Her roles have allowed her to become well-studied in municipal operations and understand the different perspectives and objectives of elected officials, appointed executives, and external stakeholders.
April has also volunteered much of her time to serve the Auditing and Accounting profession. She has served on the Constitution and Bylaws Committee, Professional Issues Committee, and the inaugural Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee of the Association of Local Government Auditors and has worked on several Yellow Book Peer Review teams through the same organization. April is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and has led trainings through the local CFE and Internal Audit professional chapters. She currently serves as Vice-President of the Ark-La-Tex CFE chapter and board member of Louisiana Asset Management Pool (LAMP), an investment fund for public entities.
