Cecilia Simchak
Assistant Director of Finance, Town of Needham, Massachusetts

Cecilia Simchak is the Assistant Director of Finance for the Town of Needham, Massachusetts. She started with the Town in 2015 as an Administrative Analyst in the Public Works Department while finishing her master’s degree. She holds a Master’s in Law & Public Policy from Northeastern University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and English Literature from the University of Rochester. Before her time in local government, Cecilia worked with runaway and homeless youth, served as an AmeriCorps member in the City of Rochester, New York, and grew up in Southern California.
Cecilia’s role with the Town oversees the Assessing, Accounting, Treasury/Tax Collection, and Purchasing departments. She is involved in GFOA through the Women’s Public Finance Network (WPFN), the GFOA WPFN Mentorship Program, and is on the Leadership Committee for the Young Professionals Network. She is passionate about leadership in local government and recruiting more young people to the profession.
In her free time, Cecilia likes reading and taking road trips to see as much of the country as possible.
