Curtis M. Eatman

Curtis M. Eatman is the chief financial officer for the Town of Dumfries, Virginia, where he oversees day-to-day financial operations, manages the town’s budget, and advises on long-term fiscal policy. With a proven track record in public finance, Eatman brings extensive experience in municipal budgeting and fiscal strategy.

Before joining Dumfries, Eatman served as Finance Director for the Town of Hamden, Connecticut, managing a $300 million budget, including the school district. During his tenure, he played a key role in transforming Hamden’s finances, helping the town move from a negative to a positive fund balance.

Eatman’s prior roles include Principal Legislative Fiscal Analyst for the New York State Senate, where he was a lead budget negotiator for the Senate Majority, and Senior Legislative Fiscal Tax Analyst for the New York State Assembly’s Ways and Means Committee. He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Finance for the City of Schenectady, New York, helping oversee an $80 million municipal budget.

Eatman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communications and Rhetorical Studies from Syracuse University, and a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He is a former New Leaders Fellow, Coro Fellow, and Center for Progressive Leaders Fellow. An active member of the Rotary Club, he also enjoys basketball, martial arts, and visual arts.
