Ember Strange has served as the City of North Little Rock’s Chief Financial Officer for 7 years. In this role she is responsible for the City’s annual budget, annual audit, federal programs, payroll, accounts payable, purchasing and accounting functions. Prior to joining the City of North Little Rock, she served as the Assistant Finance Director for the City of Little Rock. She has over 20 years of experience in management and governmental accounting.
Ember is a member of the GFOA Executive Board and serves as the Ex-officio of the Committee on Retirement and Benefits Administration. Prior to joining the board, she served as the Vice Chair of the Committee on Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting and is past president of the Women’s Public Finance Network. Ember is also a past president of the Arkansas GFOA. She also was appointed by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board Chairman to the Voluntary Digital Financial Reporting Taxonomy Consultative Group.
Ember attended the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at the Harvard Kennedy School in Boston. She also attended GFOA’s Advanced Government Finance Institute at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. In 2023 Ember was named as a CFO of the Year Finalist by Arkansas Business in the Public Sector/Education category. Ember received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and her Masters of Accountancy both from Arkansas State University.
