George Govan
Director of Finance and Procurement, Loudoun County Government, Leesburg, Virginia

George Govan currently serves as the Director of Finance and Procurement and interim Director of Housing and Community Development at the Loudoun County. In his dual role, he oversees: processing and reporting of financial transactions; grant, internal audit and financial analysis operations; and is responsible for the acquisition of all goods and services. Additionally, he is responsible for: the rental and homeownership assistance programs to individuals and families; loans for affordable housing developments; and partners with nonprofits and towns on a variety of community development projects. With over 34 years in government experience, primarily federal government, Mr Govan has held key leadership positions at the Railroad Retirement Board, Transportation Security Administration, Veteran's Affairs, and US Ability Commission.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas, a Masters in Business Administration from Troy State University in Montgomery Alabama and an Education Doctorate from The George Washington University. Mr Govan has been a Certified Public Accountant since 2000 and retired from the US Air Force in 2011 after providing 20 years of service.
