Shifat is the Director of Investment Performance and Compliance at the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS), the largest educator only pension plan in the world with over $280 billion in assets under management. Prior to moving to California state service, she worked for a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA), Crestone Capital in Boulder, Colorado, as their Portfolio Accounting Manager and led client performance and advisor related reporting. She has over 16 years of US investment industry experience. Shifat completed her MBA from Texas A&M Commerce, is a Certified Management Accountant.

In her current role, Shifat and her team work collaboratively with cross functional teams to meet the goals and objectives of the CalSTRS Investment Office. She and her team ensure accurate investment performance calculations and foster an environment of the highest ethical standards. Throughout her career, she has spoken at several conferences as a subject matter expert on various investment and financial reporting topics.
