Irma Ashworth
Finance Director, City of Mesa, Arizona

Irma has over twenty-eight years of governmental accounting experience. She started her career in Public Accounting working for KPMG LLP for 10 years and CliftonLarsonAllen for 6 six years focusing on Government and Not-For Profit clients. Irma joined the City of Mesa as Finance Director in 2013 and in that capacity, she is responsible for the daily management and oversight of the Finance Department, which includes Accounting, Treasury and Payroll. Irma oversees 36 direct and indirect reports in the areas of General Ledger and Financial Reporting, Grants, Capital Assets, Disbursements, Revenue, Cash and Investment Management, Debt Management, and Payroll.
Irma holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University, Chico, California. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Arizona. She is a member of several professional organizations including Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and GFOAz. Irma also served six years as a member of the GFOA’s Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting Committee (AAFRC).
