Melanie Keeton spent seven years in public accounting with KPMG, LLP. She joined the City of San Antonio as its Controller in 2007 and was promoted to Assistant Finance Director in February 2012. As part of the City’s Executive Team, Mrs. Keeton oversees the Accounting Division which is responsible for the management and processing of the City’s payroll; accounts payable; time administration; accounts receivables; general ledger; financial reporting; financial operations; and fiscal administration [for all City departments]. She additionally works alongside the Assistant Finance Directors over Financial Management and Collections, Public Utilities, and Purchasing and General Services and the Directors of Human Resources and Office of Risk Management to ensure that the City’s assets are properly safeguarded, cash, investments, debt obligations, public utilities receipts, actuarial reserves and assessments are accurately recorded and disclosed within the City’s financial statements. Mrs. Keeton is a member of GFOA and currently serves as the Chair for the Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting Committee.
