Nicholas (Nick) Sarpy is the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Little Rock.  Nick started with the City of Little Rock on March 25, 2024.  Nick leads a team of 51 finance professionals covering all areas of Finance (Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Procurement, Internal Audit, Treasury, Grants Administration, Budget Development, and Small Business Development).  Annually, Nick oversees the development of the City of Little Rock’s $340 million operating budget spread across 14 departments.  Prior to coming to the City of Little Rock, Nick served in the same role at the City of Waco, Texas for two years.  Nick arrived in Waco in 2021 originally as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in February 2022.  In Waco, Nick was responsible for a team of 36 individuals and an operating and capital budget exceeding $800 million.  Prior to his time in Waco, Nick spent nearly a year as the Deputy Finance Director for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, where he oversaw the entire department except the Finance Director.  Kansas City had a nearly $2 billion budget, and the Finance Department was comprised of 90 individuals.  Before Kansas City, Nick spent nearly 4 years as the Accounting Manager for the City of Surprise, Arizona which is a suburb of the City of Phoenix in the Northwest portion of the valley.  Nick started his career after graduating from Washington State University, GO COUGS!, in 2007 as an Assistant State Auditor with the Washington State Auditor’s Office and worked his way up to Assistant Audit Manager before leaving in 2016 for a new challenge with the City of Surprise.
