Cheredith is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. She is the daughter of Cherokee & Amye Adger Rhone. She is a public servant, advocate, and business executive committed to making a difference by closing socioeconomic gaps, advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion for all. Cheredith earned a Bachelor of Science double majoring in business management and finance from Centenary College of Louisiana, in 2017.As well as a Master of Management with a specialization in energy finance from Tulane University, becoming the first African American female graduate of the Master of Management in Energy program. In 2019, Cheredith was appointed by Mayor Adrian Perkins, and confirmed unanimously by City Council. She serves as the Division Manager of Administration for the City of Shreveport, Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation department. In this role, she serves as a member of the senior management team, managing a $24.5 million dollar budget, charting the direction of the department, ensuring its accountability to all constituents and effective operation. At the beginning of her tenure with the City of Shreveport, the Mayor and CAO asked her to serve on the budget team. She served alongside the CAO, Assistant CAO, and Finance Director, created and balanced a $500 million dollar operating budget and $1 billion dollar capital projects budget. In 2021, she stepped up once again, to serve as interim Assistant CAO after an organizational restructure. After becoming a Certified Fraud Examiner, she created the city’s first comprehensive anti-fraud policy. Asa member of the Government Finance Officers Association, she serves on the Budgeting & Fiscal Policy Committee. She serves on the Board of Directors at Tulane University, A.B. Freeman School of Business. The board represents more than 20,000 alumni and students. The board hosts the annual “Tulane Business Forum”, which features nationally and internationally renowned business leaders. Cheredith also serves on the Board of Directors of Thrive Unburdened, LLC, an organization dedicated to providing mental health support, therapy, and life coaching. In this capacity, she serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO, providing leadership and strategic governance to the company. Cheredith has a passion for helping others and public service. She has served as an intern in Washington, DC, for former Mayors Ollie Tyler, Cedric B. Glover, and former Senator Mary Landrieu. Cheredith has also served on various boards and committees, including the Generation Progress National Leadership Council in Washington, DC, Women in Government Relations, Shreveport Chamber ofCommerce Young Professionals Initiative, Shreveport Mayor’s Women’s Commission, Providence House Youth Advisory board, and Centenary College Conduct Court. She was nominated as a “Change Maker” and attended The White House Summit on the United State of Women, hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama. She has received numerous accolades including, being named Centenary College Lady of the Year, Greek Woman of the Year, Centenary College Frost School of Business Student of the Year, and Homecoming Queen. She also received the Centenary College Challenge Award, named Ray Williams Honorary Maroon Jacket, and Diane Tooke Student Service Award recipient. Cheredith attends St. Paul C.M.E. Church and serves as a missionary. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling. She strives daily to embody her favorite Harriet Tubman quote, “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
